The Best Ways to Declutter Your Emails

With the ebb and flow of life, it can be very easy to let old emails pile up and wreak havoc on your inbox. One day you look up and realize you have over 3,000 unread emails, most of which are from years ago and very much, irrelevant to your life now. It can be incredibly easy to just forget about your emails and allow them to pile up, but allow this to be your reminder to declutter your email messages!
Here are some great tips to declutter your email and further organize your life.

Save the Important Messages

Firstly, it is important to save all your important emails. The last thing you want to do is delete an email that you really needed. Go through your emails and really sort through what is spam and what is important. Especially if you have a work email, it is vital to save any emails that are important. If there are emails with particular work documents attached, or invoices, or any legal information, keep those emails safe. If this is your personal email, make sure to go through it and see what emails you think are useless or irrelevant to where you are now in your life. There may be some emails from old friends, family, or flames that you may want to keep. Save those and keep those safe. It is also a good rule of thumb to keep emails regarding orders, shipments, or returns from companies that you may have purchased from, just in case you need them later.

Erase Negative Emails or Messages

It can also be helpful to erase any spam messages. In many instances, you may sign up for an online mailer, or enlist your email on a shopping website that now sends you emails every 45 minutes. Those types of emails, also known as spam, can take over your entire email and end up being more trouble than they’re worth. As you go about decluttering your email, it can be very wise to get rid of those emails, as well as perhaps unsubscribe from the mailers altogether. Especially if you signed up for that mailer on a one-time occasion and don’t really purchase from that site very often, go ahead and unsubscribe in order to avoid future email pile ups that can, again, cause more issues.
If you have emails in your inbox that bring you negative emotions, delete those as wells. Again, tying back in with the online mailers, if you receive emails from sites that you perhaps can’t afford, or had a bad experience with, or remind you of someone you don’t like, erase those messages and unsubscribe from their mailers. Maybe you have emails from ex-friends or ex-partners, delete those emails, as they won’t do any good by sitting in your inbox any longer. Say goodbye and good riddance to any and every message that doesn’t make you happy. This is your life and if there are messages that will bring you down, make you unhappy, or ruin your mood, don’t take the chance of running across those emails and seeing them on happenstance. Erase them and free your mind of those negative constrains.

Maintain Messages That Lift Your Spirits Up

Conversely, if there are emails that lift your spirits and bring you joy, keep those and maintain them! Perhaps you have an old email from a best friend that just makes you laugh every time you read it, keep it! Maybe you have an email from a family member who has since passed away, and this email makes you feel close to them again, keep it around! Regardless of why, keep the emails that make you happy. Perhaps star them in your email so that they’re easier to identify when you look for them. Take the time to find those small treasures in your email that you can look back on one day and be happy to read!

Rebekah Christie began creating accessories in 2009 when she was living in Philadelphia. She was having trouble getting use to Philly being her permanent residence so she stayed home for months. She then began designing headbands and hair accessories. She was discovering her inner designer which was the beginning of "Make it Happen". She grew up in a very creative household where her parents promoted and delved in the arts themselves. With the support and help from them she began a line of headbands, bangles, hair bows, and feather earrings. She sold her pieces at street festivals and markets in Philadelphia. In 2010 she moved back to New York, settling into Brooklyn for the next three years. Since she began her journey as a jewelry designer, she has built a following throughout New York City. Charmed Feathers has been sold at shops in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and D.C. CF has also been sold in France and Canada. "The guidelines I follows are adapted from my family and into my designs. Myfather is a man that does not fear color, and Charmed Feathers accessories are always colorful and vibrant. My mother is a woman who taught me to be myself and to not follow the crowd. I like to believe that being true to yourself is as natural as you can get". -Rebekah Christie In 2012 she attended the Art Institute of New York majoring in Fashion Merchandise and Marketing.
