Fun Ways to Declutter Your Bedroom

Oftentimes, the thought of decluttering your personal space can be a tad overwhelming. You start to analyze your bedroom and see that there are so many unwanted things or crowded areas, and it can be easier to let it be than to take the time to throw things out. However, redoing your bedroom, dedicating the time to toss out items, and make room for new ones, can be incredibly rewarding and satisfying to complete.

Find a Theme for Your Room

When looking for fun ways to declutter your bedroom and make your space more enjoyable, it is important to make the process fun for you. One way to make this decluttering process less stressful and more fun can be to find a theme for your room. Begin browsing the internet, or Pinterest, to find suitable bedroom themes that you may want to explore. This helps you narrow down your “keep” and “discard” items, as the items you keep should fit within your theme. Having a theme can also help to keep you motivated and determined as this decluttering process takes place. It gives you a goal that you can accomplish and allows you to keep focused as you throw things out. This theme should fit you and what you like! It is vital to remember that this will be your bedroom space. Your theme, as well as your new and old items that fit the theme, will be yours to look at for the foreseeable future, and it should consist of things that bring you joy. You don’t want to invest time, energy, and money into the space, only for you to hate the theme later on. Gather inspiration for your bedroom, pick out key items that you love, get rid of the unwanted things, and breathe new life into your space.

Purchase Exciting and Unique Pillows

Another great way to make this process fun is to buy different kinds of pillows. As you declutter and bring new items into your space, play around with pillows. Pillows can be a great way to play with new textures, colors, or patterns, and possibly find something that you love that you may not have thought about otherwise. This is also a great opportunity to find pillows that fit with your theme. Pillows can also be a great way to tie in the different colors that you may be working with, and bring cohesion to the space. Accent pillows should be fun, represent your taste, and bring together the entire room. Spend some time playing around with pillows and see the endless possibilities for a new and exciting place!

Color is Very Important

Once you have pinpointed your theme, keep in mind that color is very important. The colors you bring into your space should fit within the theme and be colors that make you happy. Again, these colors will be the colors that you look at for the foreseeable future, so they should be colors that you won’t get sick of and will enjoy for a long time. Implementing new colors can also help to keep you focused while you declutter because if your current theme doesn’t make sense for your new theme, it will be much easier to get rid of old things that won’t correspond color-wise. By redoing your room and getting rid of old things and bringing in new things, playing with color can also provide a new opportunity to completely switch your vibe. If your old room isn’t making you feel happy, peaceful, or content, it could be a good idea to totally change the color and vibe of your space. Contrary to popular belief, implementing color doesn’t always have to be through painting the walls. You can add color through your bedspread, pillows, furniture, throw blankets, pottery, knick-knacks, and things of that nature.

Add Designs that Compliment Your Personality

Lastly, another great way to have fun while changing your room to fit your style, is to add specific designs and items that describe you and your personality. Undoubtedly, your bedroom is your space. This is your one corner of the world that will be the most you. You want it to represent you, your style, your likes, and your favorite things. Adding specific notable designs can really become your trademark, and can contribute to your signature look. When friends or family come over and see your space, they can identify that it’s yours, based on your signature design! It will become apart of you and represent you. Adding new specific items that mean a lot to you, and also fit your theme, can really help to bring everything together. There may be some treasured sentimental items that you love, or a piece that you just love to death, or a decor gift that someone gave you. Bring those items into your space, at your discretion, and see how they fit. If they make sense and make you happy, use it!
