What you really need to organize your home...and it's not what you think

The most common question I get about home organization is, “how long will it take”? This question really is asked because the emotions behind organizing ones home is of worry and doubt. They’re basically saying, my home has looked like this for so long, I can’t imagine how long it’ll take to make it look differently OR I’ve already tried several times to organize it, how long long is it gonna take YOU!

But there’s something you need more than time to organize your home and that’s… COURAGE

First of all, it took you years to accumulate everything you own so you shouldn’t expect that it'll magically disappear or sort itself out. Even though I know that's what you want.

Second, the time it takes to actually declutter or organize your space is not as nearly as long as it takes to build the courage to do it.

Lastly, what will take you years or months will take me hours or days. When I walk into a space I know EXACTLY what needs to get done and where to start. I ask you questions to validate what I already assessed.

There’s a reason we hire professionals because we benefit from their expertise and expertise = efficiency. You think you need all this time to do something because you’ve already attempted to address (unsuccessfully) this problem. So when you’re finally ready to just think about hiring a professional, you’re skeptical and wondering how long it’ll take THEM to solve it because your skepticism is based on your own unsuccessful attempts.

So, you don’t need more time or even a time estimate what you need is the courage to move past your own disappointment and ask for help!

The services that professionals offer are invaluable because what you can’t do, we do quicker.  So forget about “how long” decluttering or organizing your space will take- I PROMISE it won’t take me as long as it will take you.

Watch my vlog as I talk about why I will always hire a black hairstylists for my daughter (when I have children) and how long it actually takes to organize a space⬇

Rebekah Christie began creating accessories in 2009 when she was living in Philadelphia. She was having trouble getting use to Philly being her permanent residence so she stayed home for months. She then began designing headbands and hair accessories. She was discovering her inner designer which was the beginning of "Make it Happen". She grew up in a very creative household where her parents promoted and delved in the arts themselves. With the support and help from them she began a line of headbands, bangles, hair bows, and feather earrings. She sold her pieces at street festivals and markets in Philadelphia. In 2010 she moved back to New York, settling into Brooklyn for the next three years. Since she began her journey as a jewelry designer, she has built a following throughout New York City. Charmed Feathers has been sold at shops in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and D.C. CF has also been sold in France and Canada. "The guidelines I follows are adapted from my family and into my designs. Myfather is a man that does not fear color, and Charmed Feathers accessories are always colorful and vibrant. My mother is a woman who taught me to be myself and to not follow the crowd. I like to believe that being true to yourself is as natural as you can get". -Rebekah Christie In 2012 she attended the Art Institute of New York majoring in Fashion Merchandise and Marketing. She's currently attending Borough Manhattan Community College majoring in Business Management. She continues to be a self taught designer and educate herself on entrepreneurship
