What Type of Homebody Are You?

Introducing Homebody Archetypes by Organize For Love

Ever wondered why your home is the way it is? Why some people have severe clutter while others have little? Why your home seems to reflect parts of your personality? Well, that's because we all fit into different homebody archetypes. According to Cambridge dictionary, a homebody is defined as a person who likes spending time at home rather than going out with friends or traveling to different places. Let’s forget about that definition since I refunded a homebody with my archetypes. Cause you can be a homebody who likes to travel.

Here’s a very short summary of how I came up with the archetypes.

So, if you’re human like me, you’ve fell into the comparison trap. We see someone’s home on Instagram or look at the pins on Pinterest and can’t help but to compare them to our own. It’s a human and irresistible habit.

As a professional organizer, I understand that everyone’s home is at a different stage. And when I first started professionally organizing homes, despite having a framework, every client home’s still needed some level of personalization. There was no getting around that.

So, I created an internal rating system of 1-5 called the Clutter Spectrum in order to gauge how much clutter someone had and thus start the process from where they are.

After meeting so many people who genuinely didn’t know how to organize, what to buy, struggled with staying consistent, or just wanted to keep everything. I realized, the best way for me to help them was to equip them with the system I was using to rate their home.

Fast forward, 4 years later, The Homebody Archetypes is born. The 5 archetypes classify the state of your home, mind, and lifestyle. The archetypes are like astrology but for your home. Understanding your archetype with my guide is a great way to manage and organize your home better. So, let's dive in and learn what type of homebody you are. Here’s a summary of each archetype.

Aspirational Homebody

You have severe clutter and most likely can’t see the majority of your floors and surfaces. Your home is a reflection of your trauma, pain, and challenges. You need help getting started & managing the parts of organizing your home.

Adjacent Homebody

You have moderately severe clutter and most likely have mini piles of things throughout your home. Your home is a reflection of what’s been passed down. You need help with structure and not getting overwhelmed.

Creative Homebody

You have moderate clutter and most likely have incomplete systems that only you know. Your home is a reflection of your multiple passion projects. You need help narrowing your focus and holding yourself accountable.

True Homebody

You have mild clutter and most likely have systems that need to be updated to align with the season you’re entering. Your home is a reflection of your hard work. You need help filtering your ideas you’ve gathered so you can land somewhere.

Fancy Homebody

You have little to mild clutter and most likely have hidden bouts of clutter with systems that could use a refresh. Your home is a reflection of your pride and joy. You need help connecting with your pro organizer before hiring them.
