Declutter Your Home and Life

In today’s day and age, it can be very easy to fall victim to stuff. Your stuff can being to control you, your space, and your mind, if you allow it to. If you are knee deep in clutter or perhaps just need some organization assistance, we have got you covered!

You Matter Even Without That Item

One thing that perhaps isn’t mentioned often enough is, you still matter even without that item! Oftentimes, we start to believe that our items define us and tell the world about who we are. That is simply not the case. You are a real person with complex feelings and emotions. You do not have to own anything to prove that you matter, or to convey to anyone anything about you. Contrary to popular belief, you will absolutely feel better if you let go of material items and allow your space to be cleared. With a clear space, you invite a clear mind and in turn, become more productive, confident, and happier!

Throw Away or Donate Unusable Items

As you begin to declutter, it is important to prioritize the decluttering process in efforts to not get overwhelmed. When you’re standing in your space with a bunch of clutter, it is very easy to get overwhelmed and throw in the towel. To begin prioritizing your load, look at your unusable items. Everyone has a kitchen drawer or cabinet filled with unusable, useless items that somehow just never get thrown away. Or perhaps your second drawer consists of a bunch of unworn, unused clothes or items. Take these items out and set them to the side as you begin to organize. As soon as you feel ready, throw them out or donate them! They are taking up space in your home and in your life, and they simply do not need to be there anymore. Allow for that space to now be taken up by something that brings you joy or nothing at all instead.

Practicality Vs Sentimentality

When you stumble upon those practical items or sentimental items, be sure to set those to the side as well. Practical and sentimental items can be great to keep, as long as they bring you joy. However, be careful to not keep too many items that you deem as practical or sentimental, as these items can quickly add up and you can remain cluttered and disorganized. Ensure that these items serve a purpose in your home and in your life, and that they are functional to use. It can be wise to prioritize what particular practical items are worth keeping and which ones are duplicates, old, or just straight up ugly. The same can be said about your sentimental items. Although it can be difficult to gauge which sentimental items are more important than the others, be sure to not hoard too many items and label them as sentimental when they’re not. Take a long, studious look at your items and prioritize them in terms of importance and necessity.

Get Only What You Need, Call Organize For Love Today!

Lastly, during the decluttering process, be sure to only get what you need. It can be tempting to throw items out and replace them with something new. Although filling your space with new things that bring you joy is an important aspect of living in a nice space, this behavior can quickly revert you to the cluttered home you’ve seen before. Get only what you need and refrain from picking up things that fall in the “useless, dumb, waste of money, waste of space” categories, as this will only allow you to work backwards. The goal is to get rid of the declutter and invite a new, exciting, clean space. Work diligently to monitor that voice in your head that tells you to purchase more, as this won’t help you in your decluttering process.

Charmed Feathers has been sold at shops in Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and D.C. CF has also been sold in France and Canada. "The guidelines I follows are adapted from my family and into my designs. Myfather is a man that does not fear color, and Charmed Feathers accessories are always colorful and vibrant. My mother is a woman who taught me to be myself and to not follow the crowd. I like to believe that being true to yourself is as natural as you can get". -Rebekah Christie In 2012 she attended the Art Institute of New York majoring in Fashion Merchandise and Marketing.
